So it is a given to introduce you to some cosy and colourful winter homes this week.
Autumn is in full swing and we thought it would be great to escape the cold weather and introduce you to some amazing boutique hotels in a sunnier part of the world: West Africa.
You may be surprised that we are focusing on West Africa, as more popular destinations are the Southern and Eastern parts of the African continent with their Safari parks, beautiful lodges, and sandy beaches.
But West Africa with its lush landscape, breathtaking beaches and the continent’s most vibrant and energetic cities is up and coming and provides great opportunities for business, culture or leisure travel.
Now that we are in September, one of my favourite month in the year where the summer period comes to an end and the cosy autumn season begins, I decided to feature a colour that many of us associate with dreariness and sadness or find it rather boring and plain: Lamproom Grey.
Despite being a colour addict, I love this soft and calm hue by Farrow & Ball, which according to the Dorset based paint and wallpaper company is ‘A match to the original white which had dirtied down due to the trimming of lamp wicks.” How amazing is this?
As you may know, I am currently vacating in sunny Greece. The weather is marvellous and the sea varies between bright turquoise and deep blue, depending on the time of the day and the depth of the ocean. Pure paradise!
As beautiful, varied and inspiring the Greek landscape is Greek architecture, especially the typical Cycladic style with its white and exteriors and simple, but often stylish interiors are some of my favourites in the word. White works perfectly as a backdrop to the blue sky and sea, as well as having a cooling and calming effect in the often so hot and humid summer climate.
