Drummonds Bathrooms at Decorex

Drummonds Bathrooms at Decorex

We recently showed our Aburi Rise collection at Decorex, Europe’s leading interior design event bringing the finest furniture, lighting, textiles, craft and accessories from emerging and established names together under one roof.

I was overwhelmed with the variety of beautiful products on offer, but one company that stood out to me was Drummonds bathrooms. Held in a soft pink and green colour scheme (my favourite colour combination), Drummonds used a contemporary setting to showcase their splendid designs, underlining a design heritage and classic proportions which take them anywhere from a stately home to the most modern of interiors.

Our motto at Eva Sonaike is ‘Bringing Colour to Life’, which reflects our passion for colourful living. Many people apply this motto to their homes, however, it goes all overboard when it comes to the bathroom. The Drummonds’ stand reminded me again that there is no better place than the bathroom to take a chance with colour, whether you like your hues bold and vibrant or subdued and soft.

We often forget that bathrooms actually have a very dynamic purpose within the household. We use the bathroom to energise and ’make-up’ as we start our day and relax and wind down before we go to sleep, so bathrooms are an integral part of our daily cycle. It is the most intimate space of the house and the place where we should be able to spend the so important 'me time' away from the stresses of the world.

Here are my top tips on how to add colour and personality to your bathroom to create a space to relax and indulge in:

When it comes to the bathroom, white walls or tiles often seem an easy option for many, as white is clean and easy to work with. But in a space that should act your sanctuary, it often feels clinical and cold.

Give your bathroom a striking appearance with your favourite colour scheme with the help of painted walls, some colourful tiles or a cast iron bath which can transform a neutral space into your personalised sanctuary.

If you prefer coloured tiles, choose good quality ones, such as the reclaimed antique tiles by Maitland&Poate, as you want them to last and look great after many years of usage. Tiles are a great way to introduce as much or as little colour as you want. You can enhance a whole bathroom with tiles, or just a selection to make a subtle statement.

Wallpaper in your bathroom may not sound like an obvious choice, but there are some beautiful washable and damp proof bathroom wallpapers available, which make great feature walls to make your bathroom stand out.

If you prefer to keep the colours simple, but still want a touch of colour, why not opt for a colourful bathtub, as in the Tweed from Drummonds Bathroom above.

ACCESSORIES

The next step is to add accessories, which play an integral part in your bathroom design, so make sure that towels, bath mats and laundry baskets work with the chosen colour scheme of your bathroom to complete the look.]

 PLANTS

Plants are also a great way to organically add colour to your bathroom scheme. Lucky bamboos bring a sense of freshness to your sanctuary and colourful orchids, which thrive in the humidity, are a great way to add bold colour, texture and life to help create a refreshing environment.

Don’t forget that one colour or a simple colour scheme should serve as a unifying factor throughout your design. The bathroom is a calming space and it should not be too vibrant.

We hope these beautiful images from Drummonds will inspire you to transform your bathroom into a colour-infused sanctuary. For more information go to https://drummonds-uk.com/
