Our Falomo Rise Collection Launch at Maison & Objet

Our Falomo Rise Collection Launch at Maison & Objet

‘New year, new beginning’! That’s literally what we did when we launched our new FALOMO RISE collection earlier this month at Maison & Objet in Paris.

We love our Falomo collection so much (and I have to admit, it has been very popular) that we decided to extend it with a vibrant and bold colour scheme, perfect for summer. And ta da: there was FALOMO RISE!

Both FALOMO collections are inspired by mid-century West African architecture, also known as Tropical Modernism, which was applied to the architecture of Africa from the late 1940s to the early 1970s.

You must know by now, that I am obsessed with colour and strongly believe there can never be enough colour in your life! So we decided to introduce some popping colours to our FALOMO RISE collection, featuring bright pinks and yellows, deep turquoise and warm copper, representing the energy and vibrancy of Lagos, Nigeria -  perfect for summer!

Of course, my signature West African aesthetic using a batik style ‘adire’ background, one of Nigeria’s most popular textile traditions, is present throughout the collection and gives the design their authentic African feel.

The collection includes our signature style cushions, comfortable pouffes, vibrant lampshades, trays and make-up bags - the Half Panama and Twill fabrics that are suitable for upholstery and curtaining, as well as the brand-new outdoor fabrics that are water and stain repellant and perfect for use in the garden, on the beach or around the pool to bring a bit of African chic to the outdoors.

For those of you who don’t know, Maison & Objet is a major French lifestyle trade fair for interior design, spanning across 8 halls from decoration, design, furniture, accessories, textiles, fragrances, the world of children and tableware. Held bi-annually, it has been described as ‘among the 3 most important events for interior design’ ... a huge collection of innovation and talent all in one place. What better place to launch a new collection?

Have a look this little extract from a video that Nana from Blueprint Africa shot with me at Maison & Objet talking about the show.

Make sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter to see more images of FALOMO RISE and have a look at our website for the full collection.
