November: The Bedroom

November: The Bedroom

This month features my favourite room: the Bedroom. The clocks recently changed and the days are getting shorter, so I love spending my spare evenings cuddling up in bed with a warm cup of tea and a good book. For me, the bedroom is the absolute ‘Me-Space’. Yes, I am a married mother of two, but when it comes to my bedroom design, hubby had to go with the flow (I truly believe that most men feel comfortable in any space, as long as it is not too girly), and the kids are always welcome in my room, but their noisy toys, change of clothes and friends are not allowed into my bedroom at any point! You must know by now that I am a a colour lover, but when it comes to my bedroom I rather have it plain and simple. Design and colour experts usually recommend soothing and pale shades of grays, beiges and whites for bedrooms and I couldn’t. My walls are in an off-white (like the rest of my house) and the wall behind my bed is in a warm grey ( I mixed Farrow & Ball’s Mole's Breath with London Stone to achieve the right shade of grey). I keep the designs simple and focus on the essential items that are needed in a bedroom - nothing is worse than waking up in a cluttered space. I also like to leave most things from the outside world out of my bedroom, so there are no TV, no radio and no electronic gadgets allowed in my bedroom  to encourage the best flow of energy for restorative sleep and relaxation. And of course, don't forget to accessorize your bedroom -  that is where you can bring in colour an personalise your space. Whether it is a delicate silk nightgown hanging on the inside of the door, a plush rug in front of your bed or a vintage bedside table stocked with your favourite scented candles, photos or books -  the finishing touches are essential to surround yourself with comfort and pleasure and create a space that reflects you! Have a look at some of the great rooms we found for you later this month. I LOVE them and maybe you find some inspiration for your own bedroom make-over here.
