This month we are featuring one of my favourite rooms: the bathroom. The bathroom is first and foremost a room for personal hygiene, where we normally shower or bath, brush our teeth, apply make-up and dress or undress. But I also see the bathroom as a place of relaxation, a place of unwinding and a place of change. The perfect room for so-called ‘me-time’. I love to soak in a hot bath with a scented candle after a hard day at work. And I come to my bathroom to re-apply my make-up or style my hair before I go to out to socialise. When designing a bathroom one of the most important aspects is lighting - both natural and artificial- as there is nothing worse than not be able to see yourself properly. So make sure you get the balance right. Too much light can be as bad as too little. I personally like to keep my bathroom decor light and fresh and therefore used a white scheme (which also makes small spaces appear larger) and flat mirrored cabinets, which act as a large mirror and at the same time provide great storage. We will look at the best bathrooms from our archive this month and I will also share my favourite bath and beauty products with you (I lathered myself in Körner body lotion this morning which smells delicious!).
