Design Focus: Patricia Bustos Studios

We love celebrating colourful interiors from all over the world and explore how different cultures can be reflected in the design of a space. This month I want to introduce you to a firm that has been on my radar for some time, Patricia Bustos Studios, run by Paricia Bustos, an interior design practice based in Madrid.

Entrepreneurial, passionate and creative, Patricia had a vocation for design since her early childhood. She graduated with a degree in Business & Economics from the University College for Financial Studies in Madrid, followed by an MA in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins in London.

Back in Spain, Patricia founded Patricia Bustos Studios, which specialises in design projects for residential and commercial properties.

The studio’s aesthetic propositions are always thrilling, bright and cutting edge; inspired by the past but also forward-looking.

The Milanese avant-garde, mid-century modern, the crazy 60s and Sottsass’ Memphis style are just some of the aesthetic benchmarks alluded to in its projects.

A colouristic hallmark and an unmistakable, sophisticated, fresh, feminine feel are this firm’s calling card.

Her apartment in the centre of Madrid, which she inhabits with her husband and three children, is heavily influenced by Miami elements with its saturated colours and unique and kitsch objects. However, you can still feel the Spanish influences with the combination of plants and leaf printed dining chairs, as well as the rattan furniture. Patricia adds a contemporary touch to the apartment using pieces such as the beautiful turquoise vintage Ico Parisi sofa and the modern large ceiling lights that are the main attraction in every room.

Patricia signatures style is her usage of different shades of pink as an accent colour to create a statement. “I have always loved pink! I love what it symbolises – it is always positive and uplifting, which is why I especially love it in interiors.”, she says.

Patricia’s unique style is also expressed through her blog Mrs Blossom, where you can see other things that inspire her, such as fashion, contemporary art and photography. Her work and blog both express the colourful side of life and easily demonstrate how to surround yourself with beautiful things.

But what captured our attention the most her motto ‘Fall in love with your life!’. We couldn’t agree more! On her blog, she shares her simple and colourful view of life, small tips, tricks and secrets that make you enjoy the beautiful things that life has to offer. She shares some of her favourite phrases on her blog, that is also reflected in her work. “Feel beautiful inside and out, be passionate about your work and try to surround yourself with beautiful things. Travel as much as you can and see the world. Surround yourself with good things, project positive energy and try to be better a better person every day.” Do you feel as inspired as we do?
